Just a short note on behalf of Almost Airtight Nylon Brush Seals. They completed the weatherstripping of the receiving doors at the Center and I was impressed with their professionalism. One can tell they are not your typical Chicago contractor!

The 12 sets of double doors were done in a day. A site map was issued to them with door locations and that was the last we saw of them for the day. It was refreshing not to have to hold their hands to get the job accomplished. I would highly recommend other centers to use their services or consider them for their upcoming budgets.

Dear Mr. Williams:

This is in response to a test we conducted in 1986 at Heavenrich Elementary to determine the effectiveness of the Nylon Brush Door Seals. There was an exterior door in every classroom plus the normal double entrance doors to the building. All doors were carefully fitted with the brush seals. In an effort to insure that any change in energy consumption would be attributed to the brush seals, no other energy savings measures were made at the school.

To make a valid comparison, the BTU's per sq. foot for the school years 84-85 (before installation of the brush seals) were compared with years 86-87 and 87-88 (after installation of the brush seals). The result was a 13.84% reduction in fuel consumption after the seals were installed. In this case it amounts to a 1.5 year payback.

We intend to have these brush deals installed in other buildings that have numerous exterior doors. i will contact you in the near future to make arrangements for a survey of the buildings we are considering for the seals.
